As Edmonton closes in on the hot summer months more and more people are visiting the city and looking for fun things to do. Over the course of the past 5 years the city of Champions has become a popular destination for tourists thanks in large part to it’s fantastic restaurants, reenergized downtown and wonderful river valley.
Here at Delta T & protective products we’ve been fortunate to have done business throughout the city of Edmonton but we also spend a great deal of time enjoying the city and helping friends, family and general tourists enjoy the greater Edmonton region. Last week we enjoyed talking about some of our favourite restaurants, today we’ll bring you some of the funner things to do in the Capital region during the evening.
Comedy – Yuk Yuk’s
If you’re looking to catch a belly ache then look no further then Yuk Yuk’s, located at 13103 Fort Rd NW, Edmonton, Alberta T5A 1C3. There are other options throughout the city for standup comedy but Yuk Yuk’s always seems to deliver a great time with a ton of laughs with all of our guests. Be sure to book early in advance as tickets can sometimes be hard to come by depending on the act, weekend and time of season.
Music – Blues on Whyte
After the closure of the Needle Vinyl Tavern we set out searching for our next live music venue. We stumbled upon a pub called Blues on Whyte, located at 10329 – 82 Ave Edmonton, AB (which is down on Whyte Ave if you’re familiar with the area) which is home to live Blues music most weekends. Whether or not you find yourself a big fan of the genre we urge you to at the very least stop in and check it out, the atmosphere often provides a fun and enjoyable evening for most adults or anyone over the ages of 25.
Music, Niteclub – The Bower
One of the more unique places and situated right in the heart of downtown Edmonton at 10538 Jasper Ave. We’ve often found if you want to feel like someone stylish from the old days or the sitcom Mad Men you’ll love the Bower thanks in large part to the retro and swanky drinks they provide (like an authentically made Old Fashioned). If you’re in the market to save some money then check out the club on Thursday night for half priced cocktails to get the weekend started early.
After Work – Central Social Hall
With so many options to find in the newly renovated downtown Edmonton we have to tip our hat to Central Social Hall, located at 10909 Jasper Ave, Edmonton AB. While you’ll usually visit amongst friends don’t be alarmed or shy to visit the pub by yourself and sit up at the bar. The pub often promotes conversation amongst strangers with it’s TV screen questions (like what was your favourite TV show growing up) and often discourage users from pulling out their phones. Central Social Hall has everything you need from great drink specials throughout the week as well as numerous high definition TV’s scattered throughout the bar. If you’re in town for a work visit swing by and enjoy all that the club has to offer each day of the week.
We hope you enjoyed our list of some of our favourite things to do in the evenings of touring the streets of Edmonton. We’ll be sure to continue to update our list of ideas for our website visitors and we hope you come back and enjoy our blog.
