We’ve seen some record temperatures and snowfalls this winter but spring is apparently on the horizon and soon it will be summer in Edmonton and we couldn’t be happier. Summertime in the city of champions can provide the residents a lot to do but also a lot to miss out on. Listed below are some of the things we here at Delta T enjoy doing in the summertime in Edmonton.
A Taste of Edmonton
If you haven’t had the opportunity to take part and enjoy the experience put it on your to do list for this summer. The Edmonton Food Festival showcases a lot of the best the city has to offer in regards to food, desserts and drink. When teh festival first started out I don’t know if anyone could have imagined the huge success it has seen but since it was founded in 1984 it continues to see growth.
The festival usually takes place the last weekend of July in Sir Winston Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton and is an annual 10 day event that is been recognized as the largest food festival in Western Canada.
New to the event are some things you can take part in to learn to become a culinary master thanks to workshops, adventures and even events throughout the week.
Tickets are available at the venue so be sure to swing by this summer and indulge in some beautiful Edmonton food.
The Edmonton Travel Show
Easily the most fun experience. The Travel Show is a FREE experience visitors can use to come together, meet people and all the while plan their next vacation. Situated throughout is some of the worlds best airlines, vacation reps and hotel staff who have flown in to help Edmonton residents with the opportunity to give you an idea on where to go and what you may need to get there.
If you love travelling then you’ll want to check out this expo, it provides the best information within the city for any upcoming travel plans.
The event takes place at Radisson Hotel & Convention Centre Edmonton on Saturday May 5th.
Soundtrack Music Festival
Edmonton’s newest music festival will be situated in the river valley and is for all ages to attend. Some of the event performers are:
- Goo Goo Dolls
- Blind Melon
- Eve 6
- Wannabe (Spice Girls Tribute)
- Notorious YEG
- Master T (Masta of Ceremonies)
By the looks of it if you’re a big music fan of the 90s you wont want to miss out. The Soundtrack music festival takes place at Kinsmen Park on Saturday June 23rd.
These are just some of a few of the favourite events taking place in early Summer and late Spring in Edmonton. Keep an eye on our blog for the latest news surrounding some other events as well as how you can find us within the YEG.
